The Grove City Arts Council is comprised of a body of artists and art enthusiasts who are dedicated to sponsoring venues for diverse artistic expression, supporting young artists through the Art Scholarship Fund, and promoting interest in the arts of Grove City.
Welcome to the website of the Grove City Arts Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to the growth of awareness and appreciation of fine art in its community, comprehensive support of its local artists, and education of its young artists. Founded in 1984, the council has grown steadily over the years, not only in the number of its members, but also in its yearly special events, events designed to focus attention on Grove City as a vital component of the vibrant Regional Arts District of Central Ohio, to showcase the works of art of its talented members, and to raise funds for its arts scholarship awarded yearly to one or more deserving graduating seniors of the SouthWestern City School District.
We invite you to take a look at the following pages, pages explaining our organization and special events in detail. Included, as well, is our online gallery of the characteristic artwork of some of our members, works of art featuring landscape, waterscape, still life, portrait, figure, animal, nature, collage, and abstract pieces in a wide range of drawing and painting media, as well as photography. If joining our organization is your goal, click onto the Contact or About us page.
With the Grove City Arts Council’s first yard sale, held on August 6 & 7, a key fund raiser for its Young Artist’s Scholarship Fund was set in place, one destined to become a yearly event. Held in the spacious and shady back yard of the Woodlawn Avenue, Grove City home of Sommer House Gallery owner, Rebecca Sommers, the council found the perfect spot for the sale.
A steady stream of shoppers during the two-day event enlarged the coffers of the scholarship fund beyond all expectations. The council appreciates so much the support of the community for the special event.
Look for the council’s ongoing sale on Craig’s List which will be online soon, whereby, as with the yard sale, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Young Artist’s Scholarship Fund.
